During the last 30+ years, we’ve certified over 130,000 health, nutrition, and fitness professionals. Each month, we recognize one of our distinguished graduates who use what they have learned to inspire others and make a difference.
Meet our graduate for the month of March, Nathalie Teboul, an AFPA-certified Holistic Nutritionist
How did you initially become interested in health and fitness?
In the past, I struggled with an eating disorder. A huge part of my recovery was learning about health and nutrition and getting to the point where I understood what my body needed. After recovering, my story began to unfold in 2015.
It was a very difficult and life-changing year for me. Almost everyone in my family has been diagnosed with some sort of disease or illness. My mother has Multiple Sclerosis, my father and grandmother have Lymphoma cancer, my grandfather has Alzheimer’s and diabetes, and, unfortunately, the list goes on.
As I became aware of all of these diseases, I thought to myself, why wait to have an illness to change my lifestyle and make healthier choices?
I watched my mother and grandmother undertake natural approaches to fight their diseases. I became fascinated by the health and wellness industry, particularly in holistic nutrition.
With all of the information I had learned, I first decided to quit sugar completely for eight weeks to see what would happen. When I say I quit sugar, I don’t just mean I stopped eating cakes and lollies; I didn’t consume 1 g of sugar—no fruit, no white carbohydrates, not even tomatoes or balsamic vinegar.
In those extremely difficult eight weeks, I lost 10 kgs, and I had never felt better in my entire life, not only physically but also mentally. Ever since then, I became obsessed with creating healthy recipes that I could share with my loved ones, knowing that they were not aggravating their illnesses.
I have a deep desire to help others so that they don’t fall into the same trap that I did, so they could live freely around food and not give in to diet culture or extremes around food.
What certification did you choose, and why did you choose AFPA?
I ended up enrolling in AFPA’s Holistic Nutritionist Certification Program and absolutely loved it. I chose AFPA because I really resonated with the courses and modules, and they interested me a lot on paper. It is also an extremely convenient and affordable course that can be done anywhere.
What was your career like prior to becoming certified?
Before getting certified, I was was studying business and marketing and working on my Instagram and recipes on the side.
What is your career like now?
Today, I am working in the marketing role for a healthcare company in Paris. I have also just released my holistic nutrition counseling website and food blog, which is really exciting. I now have a digital platform where I can help people all over the world.
What are your favorite parts of your career?
I love being able to create new recipes and blog posts and share my ideas and philosophy with others in the quest to help transform people’s lives for the better. It is an incredible feeling to know you are helping people make a positive and healthy change to their life.
How has becoming certified with AFPA impacted your life?
Through AFPA, I learned how to coach clients seeking to not only prevent but also reverse chronic diseases as well as how to gain optimal health through natural approaches. How incredible is that?
Do you have any client success stories you would like to share?
So far, I am working with my first client; she is one week into her meal plan and has lost 1.5 kgs thanks to my help! That is so amazing!!
