The Assistant Athletic Director Facilities reports to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Operations, Facilities and Capital Projects and has primary responsibility to manage all Athletics facilities located at the David M. Nelson Athletics Complex and assist with event management of Athletic, Recreation, University and External Events. Assist the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Operations, Facilities and Capital Projects with the management of all facility maintenance and projects in athletics.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision of the Facilities/Event Operations Manager, part-time and student staff. Responsible for managing and maintaining all athletic facilities. Inspect and monitor all athletic facilities daily. Submit and coordinate all work orders related to facility maintenance and projects within the athletic department. Coordinate the annual athletic maintenance projects/contracts for all athletic facilities with university departments and external vendors. Assist in the set up and breakdown of all athletic facilities for all competitions, practices, internal and external events. Assist in developing and managing the facility budget for all set ups and breakdowns of the facilities for competitions, practices and internal and external events Coordinate and manage the policies and procedures for set up and breakdown of all parking lots for competition and event parking. Liaison with University Parking services and external parking vendor. Manage the artificial turf maintenance plan and execution with University departments and external vendors. Research and report the findings of new technologies regarding turf materials, maintenance and trends reported in publications. Participate in coordination of the athletic strategic planning for short and long term capital projects. Participate in university design meetings for all capital projects as well as athletic project meetings with university departments and/or external vendors. Maintain all the records, drawings, samples and stock from the capital projects and current inventory. Coordinate all external vendors with design, budget and install for athletic graphics and wayfinding. Site visit and/or collaborate with other collegiate and professional facilities. Research and report information in regards to all projects, maintenance and operations. Coordinate and set up the recycling program for the athletic department with other departments on campus. Daily interaction with University’s Building Maintenance and Operation’s, Grounds Services, Custodial Services and Facility Planning and Construction. Special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Senior Associate Athletic Director.

Job Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred, and three to five years of experience in Athletic Facility Management. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication, organizational, attention to detail and persistent follow-through skills required. Ability to supervise and train student employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Extensive background in customer service. Technical knowledge in sound, lighting and staging preferred. Ability to use advanced techniques in spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software. Ability to work within a diverse environment. Knowledgeable of University of Delaware policies and procedures preferred. Experience in event planning. Independent worker/self-starter, which is able to take direction and operate autonomously.
