Meet our graduate for the month of February , Kat Sanchez, an AFPA certified Holistic Nutritionist
How did you initially become interested in health and fitness?
I rarely gave much thought about my health until a few years ago when I started breaking out in cystic acne. Growing up, I had the occasional blemishes, but what was happening to my skin at the time was something completely different. I felt like my skin was physically attacking me. The cystic acne was painful, and my confidence really took a hit because of it. When it didn’t go away with antibiotics and countless dermatology visits, I knew my body was trying to tell me something, and so, I began my health journey.
What certification did you choose, and why did you choose AFPA?
Because I was able to heal my skin from the inside out, I took an interest in holistic health. This led me to choose the Holistic Nutritionist Certification.
After weeks of researching the right program for me, I decided on AFPA because the program allowed me to work at my own pace. At the time, I was working a 9-5 job in a completely different career field, and I needed to make sure I was able to juggle both school and work. I was also impressed by the positive reviews and decided that this program was the right fit for me.

What was your career like prior to becoming certified?
Prior to becoming certified, I was a Social Media Manager. I worked in both the editorial side of social media and the corporate side. After getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism, my dream was to land a job in the entertainment industry. I’m grateful I got to experience a part of that life, but I feel much more aligned with my career choice now.
What is your career like now?
I help people clear their skin, specifically acne, through a holistic online process. I work one-on-one with my clients and share tons of skin and acne healing resources on my social media platforms.
What are your favorite parts of your career?
There are so many! I guess I would say I love that I’ve found a community that I can relate to. I also really enjoy seeing all the messages and results from people that I’ve guided on this journey. I’m grateful that I get to share my story and help others along the way.
How has becoming certified with AFPA impacted your life?
It’s helped me feel more secure in my abilities. I’ve learned so much valuable information that I get to now put other people on to it.
Do you have any client success stories you would like to share?
I recently had a client who felt incredibly defeated by the acne on her face. Throughout our time working together, she not only saw a huge shift in her skin, she also felt more aligned with herself. That, to me, is what I strive for with my clients.
What advice do you give others thinking about becoming certified?
Now is the time to do it! We’ve all seen how fast the world can shift from one day to the next. I truly believe that now, more than ever, people are in serious need of more wellness in their lives. So if this is something you have a passion for, then you need to pursue it. Listen to your intuition because it never lies.
