How is the Certification Workshop conducted?

The certification workshop is two days of interactive lecture, practical and hands-on training. Taught by master/doctoral-leveled instructors, the workshop is designed to review program material & present new material.

Do have to attend a certification workshop to become a Certified Professional?

No. You do not have to attend an in person workshop to become a certified professional.

For your convenience AFPA provides Distance Learning / Home Study Education Certification Programs and Continuing Education Courses that you can complete in the comfort of your own home should time and travel cost prevent you from attending an event in person. These programs are specifically designed to ensure proper preparation for successful completion of the certification process. All courses may be ordered by phone, fax, mail or through our secure Internet ordering system. Our Internet address is www.afpafitness.com.

All AFPA Distance Education programs contain all study materials and exams necessary to complete your educational program. You do not have to attend an off site location to take your exam. You are given 3 months to complete your program. Should you need longer we ask that you please call the corporate office to request an extension.

How long is the workshop?

Generally, workshops are usually conducted on a weekend, from 9:00 am to approximately 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. It is mandatory to attend BOTH days.

How much does the workshop cost?

The price for a two day AFPA Workshop is $399.00. AFPA programs are all-inclusive of your education & course materials.

AFPA takes the guesswork of which study material to look over or purchase. Also, you do not have to pay outrageous prices for preparation material in addition to the cost of an exam.

What is covered during the workshop?

The workshop consists of both an interactive lecture and practical hands-on training pertinent to the workshop title.

How do I prepare for the workshop certification exam?

AFPA recommends a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks of study and preparation time prior to attending a certification workshop so that you may be prepared to ask questions on information you need clarification on.

How does the examination process work?

AFPA certification examinations are distributed at the end of the day on the 2nd day to take home and complete.  Individuals will have up to three months to complete the exam and then mail in to the AFPA Corporate office for grading.  A minimum passing score of 90% is required for certification. Upon successful passing of the exam students will become a certified professional.

What do I receive after I pass the AFPA certification exam?

Upon successful completion of any AFPA certification education program you will receive a certification package which includes your certificate indicating you have met the certification standards set forth by AFPA, a professional membership card signifying your certified status, continuing education information, professional liability insurance discounts and additional member benefit information.

What happens if I do not receive a passing grade?

You must receive a passing grade of 90% or better to receive your certification. If you do not meet this minimum requirement you will be mailed your exam with the questions you missed indicated in red. You will be given the opportunity to correct your answers within a four week time period, with no additional fee. You will not be issued your certificate until you have fully met this requirement.

What do I need to bring with me to the certification workshop?

You should wear comfortable clothing that you can move in (exercise cloths required for some workshops: Fitness Instructor, Aquatic Instructor, Cycle Instructor, and Yoga Instructor), writing paper, pen or pencil healthy snacks and an open mind.
