Strength Trainer Certification Course
The AFPA Strength Trainer Certification course offers an in-depth look at strength training for the upper, lower and core sections of the body; safe and effective personalized training programs for men, women, children, and the elderly; strength and conditioning programs for athletes of all types for various sports at various ages and much more!
Drawing on the latest scientific principles and theories related to resistance training, this program provides the "how" and the "why" behind the proper performance of popular upper-body, lower-body and trunk exercises. By understanding the purpose and correct form for each exercise, you can gain the full benefit each exercise provides and avoid injury. You will also learn the latest information related to resistance training program design, training systems, periodization principles and a continuum of training programs.
Upon completion of the AFPA Certified Strength Trainer course you'll be able to design scientifically sound resistance training programs, modify and adapt programs to meet the needs of special populations, and impliment strength building exercise programs design build power and strength.

Strength Trainer Certification Course Learning Objectives:
- Define the process of progressive muscular overload with application to power athletes.
- Demonstrate the differences between various types of resistance training techniques and their application for various sports and activities.
- Explore the cardio-vascular training effects and high intensity resistance training effects on over-all cardio-vascular health.
- Identify the physiological effects on the human body are associated with utilizing super sets, giant sets, and tri-setting.
- Construct a sprint training program to improve speed during the off-season.
- Design an exercise program based on the principals of specialization and lifting techniques.
- Recognize the detraining phenomenon on both motor performance and strength loss.
- Compare and contrast strength movements such as bench press, squat, and dead lift to explosive power movements such as clean, high pull and snatch.
- Administer a safe, effective and reasonable training program to improve over-all power and strength development.
Minimum Prerequisites for the Strength Trainer Certification Course:
- 18 years of age
- Functional knowledge of English and arithmetic
- Personal Trainer Certification recommended
- CPR not required to take examination but may be required by employer or to obtain liability insurance.
As an AFPA Certified Strength Trainer working for yourself:

As an AFPA Certified Strength Trainer working for others:

Strength Trainer Certification Course Includes:

Requirements for AFPA Strength Trainer Certification Course:
- Complete the online order information, mail in application or phone in your order.
- Receive and review all your materials.
- Complete the final certification exam that includes 75 short answer open ended questions and various case studies.
- Complete the practical demonstration of a conditioning program for a sport of your choice. The practical demonstration may be accomplished through photographs, DVD, CD or UTube presentation. Detailed instructions will be included with your certification program.
- You have up to 6 months to complete your Strength Trainer Certification course.
- You may submit your final exam once completed anytime prior to the 6 months.
- Course completion and 90% is required to pass your certification exam.
Re-testing:
- You must receive a passing grade of 90% or better on the final exam to receive certification.
- If you do not meet this minimum requirement you will be mailed/or emailed your results.
- You will be the opportunity to correct your answers within a 90 day time period.
- Students that do not achieve this score are able to retake a final exam within 3 months at not added fee.
- Additional attempts are subject to a $50 administrative fee.
